This was an interesting book in that respect, as it allowed us to see how our heroes manage when they are outside their familiar elements. Instead, Walt and Henry find themselves out of their element in Philadelphia.

The latest novel in the Longmire series was a unique one from others, in that the vast majority of the novel, and all it’s action, takes place outside the quiet landscape of Wyoming. Meanwhile, Walt is also keeping close watch over Cady, who is touch and go in the hospital.

Walt and Henry work with the Philadelphia police, including many of Deputy Vic Moretti’s family members, to try and uncover what has happened. However, soon after arriving, they are shocked to discover Cady has been brutally attacked and left in a coma by an unknown assailant. Henry is presenting at an art exhibit and Walt is visiting his daughter Cady who is working in the city as a lawyer.
